💡 Last night in our inventor Q&A, I was asked a question that's on everyone's mind: "If I use AI to help design my invention, can I still get a patent?" Here's the answer: Absolutely YES - but you need to understand how this works. AI is a tool in your hands. Just like CAD software, a 3D printer, or a calculator. The USPTO has been crystal clear on this: the tool doesn't invent, YOU do. Here's what keeps YOUR ownership intact: ✅ You're driving the creative direction ✅ You're making the inventive decisions ✅ You can explain YOUR specific contribution ✅ You're refining and improving what AI generates What kills your patent rights: ❌ Asking AI "invent something for me" and calling it done ❌ Zero creative input from you ❌ Can't articulate what YOU contributed I've got 15 patents. I use AI daily for research, visualization, documentation. It makes me FASTER, not less creative. The innovation still comes from me. Smart inventors are learning to use these tools. Just like we learned 3D printing. Just like we learned online manufacturing platforms. Document everything. Know your contribution. Protect your work. The USPTO published their official guidance on this in February 2024 if you want to read the full details: https://lnkd.in/edXhKFmP Questions about AI and your inventions?
